Galvanized Steel, electro-galvanized Paint Lock or Galvaneal (or optionally of Stainless Steel or Anodized Aluminum or Powder Coated Steel) with 1/16" (1.58mm) or 5/64"(2.0mm) standard lead lining (Higher shielding ratings available
upon request). These windows are manufactured for ease of installation in new
rough opening "hole in wall" after lead backed wallboard is installed or in existing retrofit cutout applications and promptly available in over 40 standard sizes "ready to ship" in just 1 to 3 days, and custom sizes, frame profiles or material options are available in only 10 working days. Ray-Bar telescopic frames are available with very quick fabrication times in many other custom designs, profiles or shielding options to choose from.
Available with factory installed Ray-Bar X-RAY PROTECTIVE LEAD GLASS, standard 2.0+ mm lead equivalency single layer (higher lead equivalencies available upon request) or optionally with Ray-Bar Impact Resistant X-Ray Safety Glass,Ultra-Clear Lead Glass, Frosted X-Ray Glass, Ray-Bar Ultra Clear "Lead-Free" X-Ray Glass, Abuse Resistant Encased X-Ray Security Glass,Laminated X-Ray Glass or X-Ray Heavy Plate Glass depending on project requirements,special considerations and preferences. Our standard
leadlined telescopic frames are ordered by actual glass size and fit into rough opening of
1" larger than glass size to allow 1/2" clearance around perimeter of the frame.
The OUTSIDE dimensions of our standard frame are 3" LARGER than glass size on
X-Ray side and 4-1/4" LARGER than glass size on Control Side.
EXAMPLE: A 12" X 12" telescopic frame will fit into a rough opening of 13
" X 13 " and will have an outside dimension of 15" on X-Ray side and
16-1/4" outside dimension on Control Side.
RAY-BAR STAGGERED OFF-SET SPLIT GLASS SHIELDED WINDOWS
Ray-Bar manufactures special custom "Staggered Off-Set Split Glass Window" designs that provide proper radiation shielding protection and eliminate the need for vision obstructing vertical mullions and thus allowing a very clear view in larger size windows while providing the additional advantage of clear natural voice communications between the medical technician and patient during diagnostic PET or CT imaging procedures. This unique design utilizes 3 panes of properly vertically overlapped X-Ray Glass panels with one center and two sides,and is also available in Impact Resistant X-Ray Glass. Multi-Shielded Medical Imaging Control Window for new or retro-fit applications in CT/MRI dual imaging modality rooms requiring both a radiation protective aspect for shielding against X-Ray Gamma Radiation during Computerized Tomography (CT Scan) imaging procedures while additionally providing shielding against Electo-Magnetic and Radio Frequency spectrum energy fields for the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures. This window assembly is available as a complete new modular unit or as a retro-fit shielded "cover" to fit over an existing control window assembly, and is an excellent choice overall for protecting either medical personnel and / or sensitive electronic equipment from harm,crosstalk or interference from electro-magnetism or radiation exposure depending upon your projects unique design,procedures or life and safety requirements.
MEDICAL X-RAY RADIOGRAPHIC DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING CONTROL VIEW WINDOW DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
NCRP #49 requires under Radiographic Installations 5.3.2 : "Provision shall be made for the operator to observe and communicate with the patient from a shielded position at the control panel.When an observation window is provided ,it shall have a lead equivalence at least equal to that required of the partition(or the door)in which it is located."
The current AIA and FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities requires under Shielded Control Alcoves 5.5.4.4 : "Each x-ray room shall include a shielded control alcove. This area shall be provided with a view window designed to provide full view of the examination table and the patient at all times,including full view of the patient when the table is in the tilt position or the chest x-ray is in use."
NCRP #147 requires under Types of Medical X-Ray Imaging Facilities, Radiographic Installations 2.2.1 :"The control booth shall have a control window or viewing device that allows the operator to view the patient during all x-ray exposures performed in the room. The operator must be able to view the wall bucky and x-ray table,as well as patients confined to stretchers. When an observation window is used,the window and frame shall provide the necessary attenuation required to reduce the air kerma to the shielding design goal.The window(s) should be at least 45 x 45cm (18" x 18") and centered 1.5m (60") above the finished floor."
*Please Note the above uses of the word "shall" is a requirement, and use of the word "should" is a recommendation.
DOA Technical Manuel TM 5-805-12 and DOD Unified Facilities Criteria UFC 3-190-03A "X-Ray Shielding" both state: "Leaded Glass.The leaded glass is a clear lead glass sheet approximately 1/4" inch thick and is installed in single or multiple thicknesses to provide a lead equivalent not less than that of the partition or door of which it is a part of".
ICRP Publication#44 "Protection of the Patient in Radiation Therapy"(33): "There must be a means for observing the patient continuously during treatment. This may be accomplished by use of a lead-glass window,"
IAEA Chapter 16 "Radiation Protection and Safety in Radiotherapy" 16.10: "Adequate systems, devices or other means should be provided to allow operator to have a clear and full view of the patient.The systems for patient observation should be redundant and independent (e.g.closed circuit television or lead glass windows,depending on type of treatment unit)".

All untreated X-Ray Glass surfaces worldwide are inherently molecularly soft and porous when compared to regular plate glass and as a result may potentially absorb mineral deposits,stains,chemical cleaners,soaps,grime and dirt and over time making it more difficult to maintain and clean and may eventually discolor,haze or develop a foggy appearance from harsh medical or hospital environments and continuous maintenance cleaning thus reducing the medical technicians clear view of the patient and medical diagnostic imaging procedures. Ray-Bar Easy Clean X-Ray Glass is a special proprietary transparent clear protective coating treatment developed exclusively by Ray-Bar as a very beneficial option for all of our X-Ray Glass products as a permanent and extremely durable,penetrating and chemically binding invisible coating that will never peal off or scale and is not a mere surface applied "film", and once treated will provide a very slick smooth yet durable surface that will easily repel both water and oil based liquid or stains, and is more resistant against dirt deposits, oxidation, UV exposure, corrosion and chemicals or mechanical wear from typical on-going long term maintenance and glass cleaning processes. Cleaning and maintenance is made dramatically up to 90% easier using only clean water or a non-abrasive liquid glass cleaner and a soft clean micro-fiber cloth and greatly extends the real service life of X-Ray Glass in a medical environment.
Additionally Ray-Bar Easy Clean X-Ray Glass provides such superior protection that it also assists in preventing the build-up of mold and harmful germs and bacteria,thus promoting a more sterile environment and contributing to the overall medical facilities infection control program. This special X-Ray Glass is also known as "Two Way Glass" ,"One way Mirrored" or "Two Way Mirrored" and provides a reflective privacy aspect on the lighted side. In example,this glass privacy mirroring effect is not truly "one sided" as it will "mirror" on the greater light source side from either side of the glass.This is an excellent option for X-Ray windows common to the exterior of a building as during the daytime it will provide a mirror face privacy finish on the sunlight side. Ray-Bar X-Ray Glass Setting Blocks (Glazing Shims)
Ray-Bar X-Ray Glass Setting Blocks are for use in shimming or centering X-Ray Glass into control window frames and provides both a radiation shielding aspect and a softer bottom sill support base for the X-Ray Glass to rest on when properly installed and evenly spaced for balanced pressure. Ray-Bar X-Ray Glass Setting Block Shims help assist in properly and safely installing and centering x-ray glass into a metal frame and keeping the edges of the x-ray glass from actual contact with the steel frame while allowing a perimeter gap of between 1/16" and 1/8" all the way around assuming the glass is originally ordered with proper undercuts in relation to the actual inside frame dimensions, and providing a perimeter cushion from uneven stress points due to impact transfer or pinching by frames that are slightly twisted, bowed or out of square thus reducing the potential of glass breakage due to these stress points.Setting block shims should be installed flat at both ends/corners of the bottom window frame sill and one center setting block shim if the frame is 24" or wider, or as a typical application for 36" or wider glass intermediate setting shims should be evenly spaced at a maximum distance of 12" apart (I.E. a 48' wide piece of glass would require 4 equally spaced bottom setting block shims at the window sill) and the glass gently placed onto the shims and carefully centered in the frame width and secured with removable stops with Ray-Bar X-Ray Glass Glazing Tape applied between the stops and both sides of the X-Ray Glass. Ray-Bar X-Ray Glass Setting Blocks are available "non-adhesive" in standard 1/16" or 1/8" thicknesses x 3/8" wide x 6" long, and also available "adhesive backed" upon request. Ray-Bar Lead Lined Glass Stops
Ray-Bar Lead Lined Window Glass Stops are utilized for providing additional shielding and a tighter radiation seal while reducing potential radiation leakage around the perimeter of an X-Ray Glass installed into a properly lead lined hollow metal window frame. This is particularly useful if the X-Ray Glass is undesized in relation to the window frame inside dimensions or in isotopic or higher energy x-ray or gamma radiation shielding applications. These specialized stops are internally shielded to your specified required lead thickness shielding value and are available primered and "ready to paint" as standard sized 5/8" x 5/8" x your required length(s) plus punched and dimpled to accept the included metal screw fasteners. *It is recommended that Ray-Bar X-Ray Glass Glazing Tape is also utilzed with this product.

Ray-Bar Vertical Shielded "T" Joints
Ray-Bar Vertical Shielded "T" Joints are utilized when an extra wide x-ray control window view is required with minimum obstruction and eliminates the need for large vertical mullions that reduce view and create possible shielding challenges. These ultra thin shielded "T" joints provide your specified required lead shielding values and proper overlaps at the vertical joint between 2 or more in-line panes of X-Ray Lead Glass in a single frame opening,or in a 30,45 or 90 degree angled multi-pane application with an thin angled shielded vertical "T" joint thus eliminating the need for a big lead-lined vertical mullion while allowing a clearer and virtually uninterupted overall view. Ray-Bar Vertical Shielded "T" Joints are readily available any size up to 48" high as either primered "ready to paint" or trimmed with a stainless steel face.

RAY-BAR X-RAY GLASS POLISH
Specially formulated for gently reducing or eliminating haze or hair-line scratches from soft x-ray lead glass surfaces, or refurbishing old existing medical x-ray glass windows and reducing surface "fogging",discoloration and oxidation from age for a clearer view of patients. Polish and applicator are included along with polishing instructions in this kit. Will not remove etches or deep scratches.

X-Ray Glass is a very sensitive and fragile product and Ray-Bar understands the impact that receiving a broken shipment causes to the customer in both project schedule and as a double-loss expense. Manufacturing this specialty product correctly to our customers request is only half of our service; making every reasonable effort to ensure the product arrives to its destination in perfect condition is also paramount. Our customers can be confident that we take all reasonable protective measures and precautions. Our main priority is that you receive our products in good condition which is equally as important to us as it is to you. This is why our 65 years of experience in manufacturing,handling,packaging and successfully shipping our products nationwide and worldwide reaching their destinations promptly and intact as expected is so essential. Although we have no hands-on control of the product once loaded into the truck or container, we make every reasonable effort to safely package your product in its custom protective crate for transit. We use only established, responsible carriers with modern GPS location logistics and/or computerized freight tracing and tracking capabilities. Each piece of Ray-Bar X-Ray Glass is carefully inspected by our experienced QA department during fabrication and while hand setting the glass vertically into the custom built foam filled upright "A-frame" wood crates.All packaging shipments have proper handling / receiving instructions and proper warnings easily visible on the outside. All crates additionally have damage/mishandling indicators securely fastened to the outside to visually assist our customers and end-users in determining if the product has been dropped,damaged,mishandled or adversely impacted during transit. Our successful efforts to ensure our products safe delivery is obvious in our existing (yet thankfully rarely necessary) replacement claims policy of no additional product or frieght cost to our customer as long as shipping is by our choice of transport carrier, receiving procedures were performed exactly per Ray-Bar detailed directions to preserve frieght claim rights (such as customer carefully inspecting glass upon receipt in the presence of the delivery service and noting any issues clearly on the bill-of-lading receipt, keeping crate and product in original condition for claim adjusters inspection and immediate same day written notification to Ray-Bar). The replacement glass is of the exact same size, type, quantity and characteristics of the original damaged piece(s). Ray-Bar's standard 1-year product warranty provisions are issued to each x-ray glass product order. Exactly this type of customer service is another prime example why our established and repeat customers truly value the entire Ray-Bar experience.
